They are typically made from aluminum with the folding version being setup in a way that allows you to fold the wheelchair so that it can fit into the trunk of a car really easily. The one downside to the folding wheelchair compared to the quickie wheelchairs is the lack of features. The quickie wheelchair has several more features that the folding chair, but it is made up in the portability the folding lightweight wheelchair offers.
A typical user of lightweight wheelchairs is someone that still has their mobility, but is confined to a wheelchair for the time being due to an injury or surgery or something of that nature. Users that are confined to a wheelchair for their life and want to still live an active life are most likely going to want look at lightweight wheelchairs. The reason being is because they are manual and light and allow people to do things such as play basketball and exercise.
