A Hoyer lift is a device that was designed with a specific purpose in mind. It was created to solve a problem that had troubled many people for years. A Hoyer lift is a contraption that helps patients that need to be transferred from there bed to a chair. Whether a person is currently in the hospital, on home health care, or possibly in a nursing home this device can help them to get around. In typical patient that would use a Hoyer lift is someone that has very limited mobility or is not able to be moved with the help of others due to a higher than normal amount of weight.

The Hoyer lift allows one health care worker to move a patient by themselves. It works with the help of hydraulic power. To use it a healthcare worker would put a very strong piece of fabric underneath the patient. The material that is typically used with this is a type of nylon that is very strong. This material is then attached to the Hoyer lift using chains and then with the help of the hydraulic power the patient is able to be lifted and moved.

Before the invention of the Hoyer lift is was sometimes very difficult and dangerous for healthcare workers to move heavy patients or patients with limited mobility. In many cases it caused accidents where either the patient or the healthcare worker was injured during the movement. So this invention has helped to reform the movement of patients and make it safer for all involved. The Hoyer lift has been a lifesaver.

Lightweight wheelchairs are some of the most popular form of wheelchairs on the market. The reason for this is because of the ease of use and the relatively low cost to consumers. In most cases lightweight wheelchairs are manual use type wheelchairs. Since most all manufacturers of wheelchairs make some type of lightweight wheelchair there is a great selection of them to choose from.

Some of the most popular types of lightweight wheelchairs are the folding wheelchair and the quickie lightweight wheelchair. The price for these types of wheelchairs usual runs between $200 on the very low end all the way up to $1000 on the high end. They are typically made from aluminum with the folding version being setup in a way that allows you to fold the wheelchair so that it can fit into the trunk of a car really easily. The one downside to the folding wheelchair compared to the quickie wheelchairs is the lack of features. The quickie wheelchair has several more features that the folding chair, but it is made up in the portability the folding lightweight wheelchair offers.

A typical user of lightweight wheelchairs is someone that still has their mobility, but is confined to a wheelchair for the time being due to an injury or surgery or something of that nature. Users that are confined to a wheelchair for their life and want to still live an active life are most likely going to want look at lightweight wheelchairs. The reason being is because they are manual and light and allow people to do things such as play basketball and exercise.
